Feb 10, 2010 Email Update from Doug Moore:
Hello all,
Went to Chesley today.
Beckstoffer folks have installed what appears to be a temporary "caution tape" fence along the left side of the main road to the reservoir. This prevents ALL vehicle traffic to the flying area. I believe this is due to vehicles becoming stuck in the mud when crossing the new pipeline area (there is quite a mess where the road crosses the pipeline). Did not see anyone to ask about the fence but think it will come down when ground hardens.
So, I parked just south of the pipeline and carried all my stuff in and went flying. South-end of the field is fine to fly from.

The runway has been graded and the metal shade has be re-installed by American Carports. Unfortunately, the whole area is very soft and soggy. As soon as the weather is dry for a period of time, plans can be made to set up the remainder of the field. Driving out to the runway area is not recommended until the rain subsides--you will probably get stuck in the mud!
For complete information and photographs about relocating Chesley Meadows Field, see the "Our Field" section.

Getting a closer look at the holes in our area--on good weather days there is enough room to fly out of the northwest corner.
Notice the rutty disturbance directly in front of the pit area. This is where Jay got stuck trying to grade a soggy field.
Standing at the northwest corner of the runway looking toward the field cover, notice the large lake over on the right hand side, which needs to be filled in.

All this needs to be taken care of when the dry weather gets here. Have patience! Warm weather will be here soon. Photos and comments by Jack Tatum.
